New Things Are Happening in Idaho Springs

There’s a new energy moving through Idaho Springs and if you haven’t visited in a while, you may be surprised by just how much is happening.

While our roots run deep in Colorado’s Gold Rush history, Idaho Springs continues to evolve in ways that honor the past while creating new reasons to explore, gather, and stay a little longer. From expanded outdoor recreation to community events and new business activity, this mountain town is entering an exciting new chapter.

Miner Street Market Returns This Season

Each year from early May through late October, historic Miner Street transforms into a vibrant pedestrian-focused district filled with outdoor dining, local shopping, festivals, and family-friendly activity. The Miner Street Market has become one of the most loved parts of summer in Idaho Springs—a place where locals and visitors slow down, linger, and experience downtown in a different way.

Starting in June 11th, be sure to join us for Market on Miner Thursdays, a weekly evening activation bringing live music, local vendors, food, community gathering, and a lively downtown atmosphere to Miner Street throughout the summer season.

Whether you’re grabbing dinner outside, shopping small, or simply walking the historic blocks with an ice cream in hand, the Market season is where Idaho Springs truly comes alive.

The Mighty ARGO Experience

One of the biggest transformations underway is the future Mighty ARGO Experience, a new mountain adventure destination rooted in Idaho Springs’ mining history and outdoor recreation culture.

The project includes the Mighty ARGO Cable Car, which connects visitors from the base of the ARGO Mill & Tunnel to the top of the Mountain at Miner's Point, opening access to incredible views, Virgina Canyon Mountain Park trails, and elevated food and beverages.

The story starts long before the gondola.

Today, visitors can experience the rich history of the area through the ARGO Mill & Tunnel Tours, one of Colorado’s most iconic mining attractions. These guided tours take guests through the historic mill, sharing stories of the miners, engineering feats, and gold rush spirit that helped shape Colorado itself.

Then, take the scenic 10-minute ride to the top of the mountain, where breathtaking views of the Continental Divide, outdoor adventure, and family-friendly experiences await. Idaho Springs residents ride free, with exciting packages and seasonal discounts available for visitors looking to experience the best of the Mighty ARGO.

It’s history you can walk through, hear, and feel—and it remains one of the most unique experiences in the Rockies.

More Than a Stop Along I-70

For years, Idaho Springs has been known as the gateway to the mountains. But more and more people are discovering it’s also a destination in its own right.

New events, recreation opportunities, local businesses, and community investments are helping shape a town that still feels authentic, grounded, and deeply connected to its roots.

You’ll still find historic storefronts, cold beer, hot springs, and mountain trails, but now there’s even more reason to stay the night, explore another block, or come back again next season.

Idaho Springs is changing, yes, but the heart of the town remains the same.

A real mountain town. Rich with history. Full of stories still unfolding.

Idaho Springs. Where stories live.
