HISTORY, IN REAL TIME

Stroll down Miner Street and you’re walking through layers of Colorado’s gold-rush legacy. In 1983, this downtown block was designated a National Historic District, recognizing the array of brick commercial buildings that sprang up between 1877 and 1920 — once the hardware stores, banks, offices and saloons of a booming mining town. Many of the downtown storefronts display small gold plaques, each one a marker of the building’s past purpose, like whispers of a bygone era, and they help keep the story alive.

Miner Street isn’t a museum; it’s downtown in motion. Shops, restaurants and festivals fill the space where wagons once rolled, and the stories of miners, settlers and artisans live on in our walkable storefronts.

Whether you’re sipping a beer in the same building miners walked past over 150 years ago or browsing for handmade goods in the heart of a Victorian building, this street keeps history alive.

Experience it in real time — because in Idaho Springs, the past never stops calling.

TAKE A STROLL
THROUGH  MINER STREET MARKET

Miner Street isn’t just a place you walk through; it’s a place you experience. From early May through the end of October, the Miner Street Market turns downtown into a lively pedestrian space where history, flavor, and community meet.

Alongside outdoor dining and family activities, you’ll find shops that showcase what it means to be made local. Idaho Springs is home to soap makers, tea blenders, brewers, and mead crafters who pour their creativity into every product. Flower shops, wellness products, outdoor outfitters, and second-hand treasures add even more variety, giving visitors and locals alike a chance to explore something new each season.

Here, you can savor a meal on the same street where gold seekers once walked, browse storefronts against the backdrop of Victorian buildings, and join in festivals that bring the whole community together.

The Miner Street Market is where past and present meet—and where our town’s story continues to unfold in real time.
