OUR
STORY
Idaho Springs has always been a place of discovery. Long before the Gold Rush, the Ute, Arapaho, and Cheyenne gathered here to soak in the healing hot springs, and we honor that heritage.
In 1859, George A. Jackson struck gold at the mouth of Chicago Creek, sparking Colorado’s first great rush west. From that moment, the town grew with grit and ambition, miners carving into the mountains, families building homes, and history being written with every strike of the pick.
Today, those same streets and mountains carry the stories forward. Historic buildings stand beside new trails, ghost tours weave through old saloons, and festivals fill Miner Street with life.
Idaho Springs is more than a stop along I-70—it’s a living story that keeps unfolding, and you’re invited to be part of it.
